In the summer of 2014, Emily Trudeau (7yrs) was the victim of a tragic farm accident and lost her life.The creation of the “Emily Trudeau Splash Pad” is precisely the type of project that will help the entire community heal. The community is eager to have a place that will allow young children to play, have a place for families to be socially interactive, and honor the memory of Emily Trudeau. It will also be a place that will be cherished for years to come. This splash pad will create many positive memories for the users, and foster an environment of happiness and active living.

The Municipality of Tweed is the largest municipality in Hastings County. Tweed is a central location to several hamlets and surrounding communities. Having the splash pad in a central location will also greatly benefit the residents of these communities by being able to have access to the free splash pad.

The Municipality of Tweed has 2 elementary schools' from grades JK to 8. Having free access to the splash pad will enhance the schools day trip programs. The Municipality of Tweed has over 300 children under the age of 4, and 1,100 school-aged children. Tweed also has an adult autistic housing complex that will benefit from the use of the pad.
